Harry Potter Quilt - FINALLY DONE!!!

My Harry Potter Quilt is FINALLY done and it’s perfect. I really could not be happier with it. It looks like something that might be hanging in the Gryffindor common room, which, dorky as that is, makes me super happy.

Here are some of my favorite photos, if you want to see more check out my flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/beantownembroidery/

Now the question is... what should the theme of my next quilt be? I’m taking suggestions!

PS - I think it bears mentioning that, as with basically all of my accomplishments in the last 26 years, this could not have been done without my saintly mother. In this case, I mailed my almost completed quilt across country to California and she attached the backing and binding... because she is wonderful and I am lazy. Thanks Mom.

I love this.
Things I'm never going to do again: free hand embroider deer.

Seriously.

this car is also on my "never again" list
although... that car might is probably the best thing I've ever done

  1. I'm one of those weird(?) people who have never read a Harry Potter book! So, the significance of your wonderful quilt is a little lost on me. However, as a quilter myself, recognise some hard work when I see it and your effort is simply great. Well done - how long did it take?

My last effort (in 2007) was one of 2 that took me about 18 months to do in total. That "quilted me out", and I've taken to making Plush toys instead!

However, both commemorated an important family connection - my daughter's regimental history. Have you got anything like that you might like to try? It's very rewarding!

  2. This is amazing. I'm a quilter and mega Harry Potter fan and this has got to be the best Harry Potter themed quilt I have ever seen in my life. The colors are great, the images are perfect, and I am seriously inspired to make my own. Bloody terrific!!

  3. Hey, random lurker here, found your site through pinterest and had to take a moment to tell you how much I love this! You captured the essence of Harry Potter so well! This is amazing. Seriously. No wonder it took so long to finish, it was worth it!

    1. Hey! It is actually for sale, but I'm struggling to figure out what a fair price would be. One the one hand... it's just a quilt. On the other... I spent the better part of a year on it and the supplies alone were several hundred dollars. If you're really interested let me know, I'm definitely willing to consider offers!
